Toccata Barbaro – work by prof. V. Semionov written on commission of the MT

"Toccata Barbaro", a piece of music ordered by the Motion Trio at the most outstanding Russian composer-accordionist, Viatcheslav Semionov, was co-funded from the resources of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage as part of the “COLLECTIONS” programme, “COMMISSIONS FOR COMPOSITIONS” priority, implemented by the Institute of Music and Dance.

In the title, TOCCATA BARBARO includes a hidden message. The subject of war, life and death has always been topical, in all periods of history. We call barbarity what destroys civilization and the greatest achievements of the human genius. This work is the artist’s protest against evil, destruction and self-annihilation of mankind.

/Viatcheslav Semionov/

The work was first performed during the International Festival of the Composers of Cracow on April 18th 2015.
